Right Hire successfully delivered all civil contracting works for this privately-developed residential housing complex in Pages Road, Christchurch. We are proud to have delivered a high-quality housing complex in our own neighbourhood, providing quality, low-maintenance accommodation for over-65 residents. The development comprised six two-bedroom duplex houses combining high-quality construction standards with optimal site efficiency, designed for low-maintenance and enjoyable amenity. Our client selected the Right Hire team based on our trusted reputation for reliable high performance and quality construction, fair pricing, and our local presence as a member of the Christchurch East community.

Specification

Right Hire carried out all civil works for this important project, including:

• Review of site information, topographical survey and engineering approval plans, to plan and deliver site-specific civil methodology
• All site preparation works, including establishment, temporary works, earthworks, excavation and filling, subgrade preparation for building foundations and pavements and driveways, and installation of all infrastructure and services including three waters, utilities and gas and connections to existing reticulation
• Full civil finished works including landscaping and planting, fencing, kerb and channel drainage, and paved surfaces for footpaths, driveways and transport corridors.
• Managing testing, compliance inspections, and securing all final approvals required to satisfy consenting authorities, including Section 223 and 224 signoff.

Additional

The work was delivered within a greenfield site, requiring Right Hire to carry out site clearance excavation and enabling works, including creating building platforms to required grades and levels. By working closely with the designer, Right Hire ensured the civil enabling works were phased efficiently and effectively. This included excavation and filling for the designed building foundations. We also liaised with the Council for services (water, stormwater and wastewater) to install, test and connect infrastructure for the complex which includes some shared servicing.

Following this, Right Hire worked alongside the building construction works in a well-coordinated approach to rapidly construct internal and boundary fencing, garden and landscaping, courtyard areas and driveways, and final surfacing of pavements and footpaths.

Local knowledge de-risked the works: Right Hire are the only full-service civil contractor based in Christchurch East. This is our home – we live and work here. Our team was familiar with the site and its environment, and the typical challenges that civil projects need to address in the east side of the city, with ground conditions being a particular aspect. This allowed us to plan appropriately for the type and scale of civil works that would be required, and the methodology and plant to deploy.
